In the Valley

Over the years, I’ve been different iterations of the person I am today. I’ve evolved. I’ve loved. I’ve lost. I’ve hurt. I’ve healed. I’ve made numerous mistakes. I’ve gotten things right. I’ve missed the mark. I’ve been betrayed. I’ve been protected. I’ve been depressed. I’ve been filled with Joy. I’ve learned. I’ve been hard-headed. I’ve been naive. I’ve been wise. I’ve been a leader. I’ve been a student. Ive been in solitude. I’ve been in community. I’ve changed yet my spirit remains connected to who I am meant to be.

Through it all, It was the valleys of my life that humbled by circumstances tempered in Him by the removal of pride and arrogance bringing a resolve to irreconcilable differences.

Valleys help us know God and ourselves more profoundly. When we’re broken, helpless and in dark and low places we come to see in a different way

Here I am today, sharing the sum of my life’s experiences (so far) with you by offering the wisdom and healing I’ve gain over the years through my new business—Valley Girl. My books are fiiiinally open!

My models of care centralize energetic, spiritual, and ancestral methods of healing that I have personally practiced for the last five years. They have been by far the most effective means of healing as they’ve helped me embody and integrate all the work I’ve done with therapists, doctors, spiritual leaders, and self-reflection. I’ll be offering Reiki (Usui Shiki Myoho tradition), Vibrational Sound healing, Conscious Connected Breathwork, and Spiritual care.

These practices addressed the issues the tissues in my physical body have held on to for decades better than any healing method I’ve experienced. They’ve addressed the issues I haven’t been able to ‘pray or will’ away. They’ve addressed issues I thought I’d have to carry for the rest of my life.

Ok story time, you still with me? Alright cool. Five years ago, I uprooted my life from the DC/MD area after desperately leaving a 12-year domestic violence relationship (I know, more on that another day). I started a new life in Denver, CO and have been on a journey to heal and reclaim my mind, body, and soul ever since. Upon leaving that relationship, I also received a call to Christian ministry as a preacher and minister. I received my Master of Divinity from Iliff School of Theology in 2022 and became a licensed minister in the American Baptist tradition shortly after. I’ve studied theology, I’ve deconstructed the complicated and violent history of colonized, fundamentalist Christianity, I’ve preached the Gospel of Christ, I’ve served in church congregations, I’ve created ministries.

I’ve expanded my knowledge of and love for God, humanity, and self. I keep God—the Divine Creator of the heavens, the earth, the multiverse, of every living thing seen and unseen—at the center of all that I practice.

AND I knew there had to be more. I NEEDED more. My soul couldn’t fully settle in my physical body. My nervous system wasn’t calm. So I began to listen to my body, like actually. I needed to energetically move out years of trauma at the cellular level. This would make way for my mind, soul, and body to be at peace with one another.

I began by practicing yoga and eventually became introduced to Reiki, Sound healing, and Conscious breathwork. I’ve been training under some amazing and nurturing teachers who’ve guided me towards my own medicine. The medicine that every human being already possesses because I believe we are all made in the image of our Divine Creator, we are the imago dei.

I want to help others access their own medicine. I want to help others heal. I want to share the freedom and peace that surpasses all understanding even when you find yourself in the valleys of life.
